Polo was surrendered by his family because they were moving, so he landed at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control. They were familiar with him because he had gotten loose a couple of times in 2025 and was brought there previously.

His former family had him since he was a puppy, and he lived with 2 kids (ages 7 and 15), as well as 2 cats.

Polo, like many nordic breeds, was not doing great in the shelter setting. He was resisting going back into his kennel after volunteers took him out, and was overall miserable. His stress level led staff to move him to the quieter, staff-only area to try and mitigate the issue. He was given a euthanasia date of 8/4/2026.

NR+R went to the shelter to meet him and had such a positive experience with him, they tagged him immediately! He is a classic husky - smart, sweet, stubborn, and vocal. He’s house trained, does okay in the car, and while he wasn’t generally walked much, he’ll walk on leash.

His left eye is a very unique contrast of brown and blue - at first glance, you might think it’s lazy, but it’s just the color!

Polo knows some basic commands - sit, shake, lay down - and in spanish! His ideal home is husky-savvy and able to provide some structure and exercise. Since he’s so smart, he definitely needs an outlet to keep him entertained!

Polo will be entering NR+R’s rescue on Tuesday, 8/4/2026 after his neuter surgery.
